The Wolverine Claws to Top of Weekend Box Office

The Wolverine has clawed to the top of the box office. Hugh Jackman’s latest outing as the X-Men mutant should open with an estimated $55 million weekend, good enough for first place over last week’s champ The Conjuring ($24 million) and the blockbuster animated sequel Despicable Me 2 ($16 million).
Another family flick, Turbo, is projected to finish in fourth place with roughly $13 million, just ahead of Adam Sandler’s ensemble laugh-fest Grown Ups 2 ($11.5 million).
Action-comedy Red 2 is tracking toward $8.5 million and the #6 spot.
Pacific Rim ($7.5 million) should inch ahead of The Heat ($7 million) for seventh place, with R.I.P.D. ($6 million) and Fruitvale Station ($4 million) rounding out the Top Ten.
