Angelina Jolie had surgery last week to remove her ovaries and fallopian tube, two years after undergoing a preventative double mastectomy.
Jolie reveals the news in a guest column for the New York Times , much like she did for her prior operation in 2013, when genetic testing indicated she was at high risk of developing breast cancer because she possessed the mutated BRCA1 gene. The actress writes that she was “planning this for some time,” but thought she had “months to make the date” before getting some suspect test results two weeks ago. Jolie’s blood tests revealed some of her inflammatory markers were elevated, and she was urged to see a surgeon “immediately.” She continues:
“I went through what I imagine thousands of other women have felt. I told myself to stay calm, to be strong, and that I had no reason to think I wouldn’t live to see my children grow up and to meet my grandchildren. I called my husband [Brad Pitt] in France, who was on a plane within hours. The beautiful thing about such moments in life is that there is so much clarity. You know what you live for and what matters. It is polarizing, and it is peaceful.
That same day I went to see the surgeon, who had treated my mother. I last saw her the day my mother passed away, and she teared up when she saw me: ‘You look just like her.’ I broke down. But we smiled at each other and agreed we were there to deal with any problem, so ‘let’s get on with it.’”
Angelina Jolie made her return to the red carpet since marrying Brad Pitt back in August at the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards at the Palladium on Friday, Nov. 14. Jolie, 39, looked super slim in a strapless Atelier Versace black gown. She accessorized with a bracelet and stud earrings, and wore her brunette locks in an elegant updo.
Angelina Jolie has gone blonde for By the Sea, the upcoming movie she’s directing and starring in alongside Brad Pitt, their first on-screen collaboration since Mr. & Mrs. Smith a decade ago. The typically brunette bombshell wears a dirty blonde wig in the new photos, taken in Malta, where the real-life couple has been shooting in recent weeks.
Well, this is a refreshing change of shade on Angelina Jolie . Yes, a color other than the opposite of the color she wears every single day would be more refreshing, but we know to be grateful for what we’re given when it comes to this fashion phenomenon.
This marks the first time the Disney villain has stepped out in a non-black, non-cocktail dress or gown in weeks. Unfortunately she’s now wearing the combo our grandmas wear on Easter Sunday every single year…
Surprise, Malta! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have paid you a visit! E! News has learned that the Hollywood power couple flew to the small European country for a secret 36-hour film scouting trip connected to an upcoming project of Angelina’s.
“They arrived on a private jet. It was a top secret trip and no one knew they were coming,” a source tells E! News. “They are planning on shooting a movie here for 8-10 weeks from the middle of August.”
While the name of the project was not known, the source said, “It’s Angelina’s film. She’s in charge.”
They were taken by private car to a chartered yacht, which ferried them over to the island of Gozo, which is part of the Maltese island chain in the Mediterranean Sea.
Angelina Jolie opens up about her eight-year relationship with Brad Pitt in the June issue of Elle.
“You get together and you’re two individuals and you feel inspired by each other, you challenge each other, you complement each other, drive each other beautifully crazy,” reflects the actress.
She continues, ”After all these years, we have history — and when you have history with somebody, you’re friends in such a very real, deep way that there’s such a comfort, and an ease, and a deep love that comes from having been through quite a lot together.”
Jolie seems especially grateful for their life together after spending much of her younger years believing a happy ending wasn’t in the cards for her.
His and her coordinated looks never looked so sleek and sexy.
All eyes were on Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as they stunned on the red carpet in matching tuxedos at the 2014 British Academy Film Awards at the Royal Opera House in London.
The mother of six decided against a long gown and donned a formfitting Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane for the awards show on Sunday. The brunette beauty was effortless in the formfitting blazer and slacks, which perfectly accentuated her slim figure. Jolie sported a crisp white dress shirt with an undone bow tie, a belt and patent leather pumps.
The 38-year-old wore her long locks down in smooth waves and accessorized with Tiffany jewels. Jolie opted for a smoky eye and natural peach lips.
Happy Valentine’s Day, folks!
While many of you may be secretly hoping that Ryan Gosling will show up at your doorstep with a dozen roses, we’ve decided to honor this romantic holiday by taking a look at our favorite couples in Hollywood, who have not l only stood the test of time, but have remained mighty fine while doing so.
From lovebirds Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum —who first met when they costarred in the 2006 film Step Up and recently welcomed their first child, daughter Everly—to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner— who have three beautiful children together— these couples have proven that love can truly last in Tinsel Town.
But these couples aren’t just admirable for their longevity—they’re also a picture-perfect sight on every red carpet they rock together. Case in point?
Victoria and David Beckham , who sizzle at every event they attend, filling the room with almost too much hotness to handle.
And don’t even get us started on Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady , who are seemingly an image of sheer perfection every time they are photographed together.
There’s also Kim Kardashian and Kanye West , who celebrated an exciting 2013, after welcoming daughter North West and then later getting engaged.
Angelina Jolie is in the running for mom of the year. The 38-year-old actress and activist took 5-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox Jolie-Pitt to Luna Park in Sydney, Australia, on Monday, Jan. 6.
The outing comes less than a month after the famous family saw a matinee performance of The Lion King .
The twins—sans older siblings Maddox , 12 and Shiloh, 7—certainly made the most of their outing with mom. The trio took rides on a Ferris wheel and a roller coaster, and Jolie won a number of stuffed animals on her kids’ behalf. Pax, 10, and Zahara, 8, joined in on the family fun later that afternoon.
“The amusement park allowed for the family to stay an hour and half after closing to enjoy themselves. The public was not out of the park when the family arrived, so everyone went inside to Coney Island first where they played on the slides and played games,” a source tells E! News. “Once the park was empty, they went outside.”
“The kids were really good at the game where you have to get the ball in the clowns mouth,” the source adds. “Angie and her family seemed very happy and had a lot of fun.”
